Charlie Hankin 2017

Lizzie Benzik is a dancer, choreographer, and performer based in Brooklyn NY. She is the founder and artistic director of Extras and Affiliates, a small company working to bring narrative contemporary dance to non traditional settings through live performances and dance films. Lizzie performs regularly at Madison Square Garden as a member of the New York Rangers Blue Crew and the New York Knicks 7th Ave Squad. She is a student of Alexander technique and singing under Beret Arcaya and Victoria Clark as well as a student of improv comedy with Improvolution. Lizzie graduated Barnard College of Columbia University in 2017 with a B.A. in biochemistry and a minor in dance under the direction of Dina Merrer and Katie Glasner respectively. While at Barnard, Lizzie worked as a general and organic chemistry tutor, a member of the Magyar Research Group, and artistic director of the Columbia University Ballet Ensemble. She has danced with the Grand Rapids Ballet, the Columbia Ballet Collaborative, Team Awesome Robot, Heights Players, AlphaNYC, Narrows Community Theater, NachmoX, Regina Nejman, and the Community Dance Project at the 92nd Street Y. Her choreography has been presented in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. She looks forward to presenting her new work “Gal Pals” at the Barnard Reunion and performing “Crazy for You” with the Heights Players later this spring.
